Today has been a really special day for me. I'm feeling under the weather and extremely sunburned. A fellow member was sweet enough to bring me hot and sour soup. Thank you.

Then SFC VXN picked me up in her Lotus to help me do some errands. On the way back we see this car parked on the street.
We were driving too fast so we had to circle the block to check it out. Not only is this my dream car, but that is the reason SFC VXN and I met, so it's really special to both of us. We both love the car. I figure this car belongs to Cars Dawydiak so we park and try to get in the store. It's locked. I call my girl friend that works there, no answer. I call the owner on his cell phone. I tell him I'm outside and ask what's up with the
Spyker.
He comes down. Tells me I can drive it if I want. Of course I want, are you kidding me?!? I've always thought Spykers were sexy cars. I did hear that they drive horribly, so I was curious to find out. It's not your typical car. Shifting isn't straight forward. There are no numbers anywhere, it's just a pole with the gear shifter sticking out. To get into reverse you have to depress the button at the top of the shifter. I got the seat as close as possible to reach the pedals. The brake was really heavy, although the owner said he drove another one and it was different. This particular
Spyker had over 8,000 miles on it, so it's already been broken in. The displays are so different than any other car I've driven. I sat in Spykers before, but never realized how you have to adjust when driving. There was zero visibility in the rear view mirror, the windows are Countach style; the bottom half goes down, the doors are Lambo style; they go up. Next year I guess they are making an automatic version, which will cause the length of the car to grow by 12 inches and the top will not block your visibility anymore. Sport mode on the car is cool. The exhaust gets louder. Unfortunately, I drove it in the city, so didn't really have a chance to open it up, but I still loved it. I filmed SFC VXN get back from her ride. Enjoy the pix.
I told the owner, if he ever needs someone to drive it, that we'd be game.

It's amazing how cars always seem to make me feel better. After this experience I still want one, after the Bentley and Lambo.
