Give a plug to Chris too: http://www.chrismetcalfe.co.uk He did the photos towards the end there. If anyone in the Tampa Bay area needs photography he is the man, or anywhere for that matter, I'm sure he would not be opposed to being flown in for work.

Sorry, Dave. It was obviously a beater. The pictures don't lie. Nor does the fact that Todd had to resort to wool pads and wet sanding.
My god, man, what had you done to that car?
On the other hand, nice work, Todd. I'll have to ask you some questions about some of the products you used. Some new stuff there I'd not heard of. You must spend a fortune on DI resins, as I didn't see an RO membrane before them. I would think that an RO membrane before a pressurized holding tank would be far more cost effective for you.
The headlights/taillights are stunning. You've got me all psyched up to attack my older Lexus.
Nice to see you using some of the esoteric 1Z products. There are multiple hidden gems in their line.
Nice photography of the finished product.

Kind of. I bought it with 65 miles on the odometer but from a used car dealer in south florida. The original owner bought it from Lambo of Ohio just to flip it as spyders were hard to come by at that point since they had just come out, so he sells it to the south florida dealer for a quick profit and then they sell it to me for $10k over market price, but it had all the options I wanted so I grabbed my ankles and paid the price. I didn't realize those scratches were there at the time because I was so happy to be getting my first exotic that I was just overwhelmed and didn't give it the thorough once over it should have been given. Other minor damage was to one of the engine cover struts.

Todd. Never got a response regarding the DI resins. I use the Spotless system which is similar looking DI resin canisters, which I have to replace about every 4 months (and it's a real PIA job too). How often do you have to change out the resins considering the number of cars you do?
Also, where do you get the Rejex Sealant?

Charles I do 90% of my work mobile. I do have select exotics in my garage (middle class neighborhood) that feak out the neighbors the other 10% of the time.

Yes, Dave's car was "dirty". But the truth is that removing/cleaning dirt is the easiest part of detailing, in fact it just car washing. Truthfully, the condition of Dave's paint underneath all the dirt was remarkable. There where light swirl marks over the surface (not really visible because of the color) and one area of the hood that required wetsanding. Since most swirl marks and microscopic damage is caused by improper washing and drying, maybe it was the lack of washing that kept this lambo in such great shape.
The truth is 99.9% of exotics I see are far "cleaner" but need this type of paint re-leveling service much more then Dave's car did. However once the paint was made as microscopically level as possilbe (and thus reflected vs. refracted light) the glow and gloss on this car was brought to the maximum potential. So while improvement was definetely made (being pearl and flaky reduces gloss, and orange color is limited in the improvement that can be seen) it is nor where near as dramatic difference as a darker color.
A lot of people think they are doing their cars good by frequently washing and dusting them, but unless there methods are exact, they are actually doing microscopic damage and removing microscopic levels of paint.

Car was dirty but in better overall shape then 99% of the exotics I do. Most colors and cars would see a much more dramatic improvement in looks from a proper re-leveling and jeweling of the paint's surface.

Correct, dirt is easy to remove. Damage isn't.

Hi Alan,
I use the same CR spotless that Dave uses (that was Dave's that was used). It really depends on the level of detailing done. A typical wash uses 4-5 gallons, tops (unless I mix the soap buckets with the water). A high level detailing, with constant rinsing and decontamination will take as much as 40 gallons. Typically I get about 130 gallons or so from my unit. I change them on a montly basis, it seems, but I buy the resin in bulk so it is cheaper.
