What's the gas mileage of the LP640 compared to the original Murcielago? And is it a big issue with the shortage of petroleum quickly approaching?

I'm always amazed when I open these threads.

If you can afford the car, I doubt the gas is a problem.

LP640 or not, a 12 cylinder car is gonna get horrible fuel economy :)

Yes, pretty soon there will be no oil left and all you 640 owners will be asking me for a ride! Oh wait, the g-wagen probably gets worse mileage. :banghead:

Another good question, with Ethanol becoming an uprising alternative, will Lamborghini change their engines to use Ethanol as a source of fuel? And how about all those reserves of crude oil in waiting? They're supposed to supply us for another 30-40 years after all the oil and petroleum reserves are gone.

I think Lambo has already stated no green cars, although green doesn't have to mean low power so maybe they'll reconsider. I saw a Mustang concept a while back that would make 520 hp on a V8 while running E85 or 450 hp when running normal pump gas.

Maybe someday they will transform into a tesla (http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1);) - speaking of which, anyone here driven one?

I'd like to drive one, don't see myself buying one yet though, needs more range; would be wild to burn someone at a stop light while making no noise though.

With the costs of the upkeep , fuel is not the major concern here , trust me . I fill up 2 - 3x / week . Thats over $200 a week in just gas sometimes more . Do the math thats almost a lease on a really nice car for what i pay in gas monthly

Only car I've ever owned that you can see the gas gauge move when you drive.

That being said, "If you have to ask..."

My Radical gets about 4 to 5 mpg, but the fuel costs $6.50/gallon, does that mean it really gets 2.5 mpg compared to street cars? :)

Haven't driven one. Just spent some time a while ago surfing their website. Interesting. Only two gears was a surprise. Bet it could be fun to drive.

Yeah someday I'd like to get one as a toy car. I like the idea of plugging the car into a standard wall socket. :) Leave it up to the brains in Silicon Valley to figure something like that out. Wonder how long the batteries (not the charge) last in those.

It would eliminate my heel/toe issue; same torque is available at all speeds. :)
