I didn't realize it but the diesel monster Audi R10 TDI set a new lap record at Sebring back in March at 1:44.97 :grinning-smiley-003

One interesting thing I caught:

The fuel tank capacity for diesel sports cars was reduced from last year’s 90 liters to 81 liters. This means, that the R10 TDI has to come into the pits at Sebring about three laps earlier compared to 2006.

So we'll assume that means they burn about three liters per lap, or 0.79 gallon per 3.7 miles which is nearly 4.7 mpg. That's pretty impressive mileage for a friggin full on race car; I got about 5 mpg in the Gallardo when I was at Sebring and I certainly wasn't driving it like that. :)

The other way to look at it is, can you believe a diesel only getting 4.7mpg????

They are truly amazing cars. The most amazing part is the noise they make. So different from other race cars.

LOL, true; that's one sorry ass diesel engine in that thing. :lol2: Wonder how much it can tow?

Could you go a whole hour session without needing to fill up?

The Lambo carries enough gas to go through more than half of a typical track day but not enough for the whole thing, but just barely not enough, which really sucks because that means you have to fill up at track prices during the lunch break ($5.50/gallon for 93). If you have some gas jugs, I'd be happy to haul them down in the trailer for you. I bring 25 gallons of race gas with me since it's $2/gallon cheaper on Dale Mabry than at Sebring. Otherwise, fill up in town on Friday on your way in, and then you'll have to add during lunch on Saturday.

Since I don't have trailer abilities, I'll be driving the Lambo to Sebring (which sucks, adding the mileage). So I'll need to fill up when getting there anyway.
