Sinders has now voiced this intention in an interview with Automobile Magazine.

“We fully intend to go straight at the Ferrari F430 and the Lamborghini Gallardo. Over time, it would not shock me to see a broader range of engine choices to appeal to a broader range of buyers,” said Sinders.

I'm assuming although he doesn't say, that hes referring to the DBX.

I'm still hoping to be able to get my name on the list for a DBS :lol2:

Didn't they already, you know, make a car like this called the V8 Vantage? Also, by the time they have a car to "compete" with the F430 and the Gallardo, the F540 and new Lambo will be out.

Just stick with big, front-engine gentlemen cars Aston!

My point is, don't they already have a competitor?

The vantage is not a competitor to the 430 and g, at least in my mind.

Why not, just out of curiosity?

Over 100 HP less engine, 25 mph less top speed, nearly a second slower to 60, lower redline, more than a second slower in the quarter, couple hundred pounds heavier. Not that it's not a beautiful car and a bargain compared to others in the price range.

True, all very good points, but would you consider the Vantage, 911 Turbo, or Z06 closer to the Gallardo in terms of competition? :D

The 911 Turbo and Z06 perform at or above Gallardo levels given equal drivers, the Aston doesn't, hence my statement. :fu2:

dave pretty much nailed that one.

Point taken. But I'm still not sure of the percentages on people who cross shop the Z06 to the Gallardo compared to those who cross shop the Vantage and Gallardo.

I'm just killing time before work, what better way than a car argument? :D
(BTW, I agree with you for the most part)

Well by you mentioning those two, you took this to a performance comparison, but there's more to it, I'll break it down for you like this: :) the Z06 is ugly and cheap on the inside but highly functional due to its great performance and makes a good track car, the Porsche says I want to go fast and in luxury but I'm not prepared to spend supercar bucks (or as an alternative, I'm having a midlife crisis) and also makes a good track car, the Aston says I want to have a very classy and well performing sports car but performance is not my primary concern, it just needs to be there when I want it. Gallardo says holy mutha fuckin' shit look at me, oh, and I'm gonna whoop your ass after you finish looking at me! :lol2:

I may publish this in a book about poetry, that was beautiful. I laughed, I cried, I was in shock, I felt empathy. Your post just took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I am not sure if I can recover.

Having recently shopped seriously for a Vantage, and debated it vs a 911 Turbo or 911GT3RS (love the black with orange details paint job), I agree with most of what you said. Vantage is for understated style (more my personality), Porsche is for reliability and really is a better performer than the Aston (although the Aston does ooze sex), and the Gallardo is for, well, owning a Lambo, which as we know is a whole other kettle of fish. 911 will get no attention. Aston will get lust, and Lambo will get babes.

I just got a call the other day, four months after I had been there, from a guy at Reeve's telling me they had an '07 GT3 if I wanted it; I said nope, bought a Radical... silence... "What's a Radical?" :)

I'd love to have a GT3RS at some point for a change of pace track car, particularly the black and orange, but can't afford it and have nowhere to put it at this point in time. If I had a way to get the G back to Sebring with the Radical I'd do a few laps in it, it was fun. (This is where Matt & Brandon are like "We'll drive it down for you!") :lol2: :lol2:

I drop a line like this, leave for the weekend, and no one bites at it. So dissappointing...
