Cool story today in the North of Tampa paper.

The Floridan hotel originally built in 1926 and opened in 1927 is being renovated and brought back to life.

I think this is a really cool project.

Here's some vids on the story

Wonder what they're doing about the ceiling height; they built that place when a floor was like 8 foot so the ceilings are really low in there. Nice to see it resurrected though, it's been sitting there vacant forever and it's really nice.

Interesting thought. I dont sppose they can do much but maximize height by not having drop ceilings. Assuming that is possible with all the modifications to bring the building to modern code. Obviously drop ceilings being one way of hiding these modern additions . wire/ conduit, sprinkler /plumbing pipes etc.

Wonder if each rooms ceiling is plaster and decorated like those seen in the common areas. I would really love to see how all this turns out.
