I was at the local Porsche dealer recently buying a case of AGIP since it's such a pain in the ass to find and asked one of the sales guys about availability of the GT3 RS, he got a kick out of that so I guess they aren't exactly a large quantity vehicle. He said he'd be lucky if he could find me a regular GT3. Anyone know what the real availability is on either car? Are they really one or two per dealer only?

If you are interested in one, a friend can get ahold of it for you. I know they are hard to get from a dealer.

Not a problem in this part of CT. I visit a local Porsche dealer a few times a month to see what they have in and a few weeks ago they had a couple GT3s and were taking shipment of an orange RS the following day. The GT3 is gorgeous.

I'd love to have one but the only other vehicle I'd buy at this point is a track-only car and while I'd love the GT3 RS I've got something else in mind. I'm going to put a post about that in the track section later today or tomorrow. :)

I think all the 07 RS's are sold and they are taking orders for 08. But they might not build them in 2008 to kinda make them like the original RS (just what I've heard).

GT3 look great, but the RS is even hotter. Here is one that showed up today at the Cars & Coffee show in Irvine.

Got any inside pics? I've never seen detailed photos of how the cage connects to the chassis, etc. Definitely an awesome car.

No interior ones as they are not my pictures. If I ever see one out at the show near me I will try to take some detailed pictures of the interior.

I'm curious if the cage is actually welded in and at how many points or just a Porsche aftermarket add-on that's installed at the factory. You'd think with a factory installed cage they'd at least give you a four point harness rather than normal seat belts.

BTW - we also own Porsche and Audi stores so I could probably hook you up if the need arises.

I always lke the old color schemes of the 996 GT3 RS (boy that's fun to say), where the car was white and the color you picked was of the wheels and badging. The ice blue always looked so cool....

From what I recall, the majority of the GT3 RS get scooped up mighty fast by the racer crowd. The reason behind it is because the RS is basically a race car sold to the masses (well, not really the masses, but you get the idea). The GT3 RS is an extension of the GT3 line. The GT3's are already rare... so divide the number of GT3's produced in half and you get the number of GT3 RS'. So, you can see how they go REALLY fast.
The key word is exclusivity. And considering how many Porsche Cup drivers are out there, it's no wonder that they are scooped up so quickly.
It's still a beautiful machine nevertheless.
Here are some photos of the RS' interior.

Yeah, when i asked the dealer about it they said they get maybe one or two allocated to them each year and those get first right of refusal from their best return customers before they'd let someone just buy one outright, and of course the cars never make it past those best customers, even if it's just to flip.

The 911 GT3 is only 44 pounds heavier than the RS with a base sticker $18,200 less according to porsche spec boards.
The "regular" GT3 has a powered sunroof, and many more creature comforts than the RS. I really hope all that roll cage stiffening and lightweight wheels toss it around corners much faster than the "regular".

The RS has a wider rear end and a different, lighter clutch that makes the throttle more responsive; the 44 pounds less is after the roll cage is in. You could probably do all the same mods for less but it's easier to write the check if you're fortunate enough to have a dealer make you their designated recipient. Or you could just flip it on ebay for a quick buck. :)

It actually would though, most people don't know anything about cars.
If i ever do something like that, you have permission to slap me.

the difference of exterior between lamborghini and audi would be easy to spot by just about anybody. Differences between the GT3 with stickers and the RS could fool a few porsche owners I'd bet.
