YEP, its nice to see I AM NOT the only one who puts miles on these cars..

GOOD for him

Said it many a time and will say it again...they only get better with miles if well maintained..

Give me a high mile exotic car over a low mile garage queen anyday of the week...

be sure to take a camera along with you! its pretty crazy that he had NOTHING bad to say about it...what do you guys think about his little suggestion regarding letting it idle until the needle moves?

That's definitely not an old wives tail, when you first start a car, the oil pressure is dramatically higher than when it is at temp, and it's moving slower, so that is the time when you could do real damage. With my race cars, they need to idle for a good five to ten minutes about 30 minutes before the first track time to get everything up to temp, not just the oil itself but the entire block, coolers, transmission (which is where the oil reservoir is in my car), etc. On my old car, the Radical, there's been occurrences of people with the same car jumping in and revving the hell out of it at start and blowing the oil filter right out of the side of the engine, that one would get up to about 120 psi at start before settling down to 30 to 40 psi at hot idle.

That is a great clip of Jay and the Countach.

Also very true on letting the oil warm up. I have the same model (my wing is still on)- haha - but sadly in storage for the season. Especially and important to let the fluids warm up on those cool spring or fall mornings.

Hey - hello Zeeshan

Yes only a few Cdn lambo owners (hard to understand with the long driving season - lol). Even fewer out west...but that's ok - just more room to run!!

I saw that clip the other day and it was really nice to see that he uses it. Heck, didn't he say it was his DD for like 5 yrs at one point? May sound odd, but I actually liked seeing the worn leather on the seats and dash and the fact that he wasn't embarrassed at all but proud!

My 89 Esprit makes me warm it up. If I try to get on it before it has reached its optimal temp it has only a portion of the normal power on tap. Ands it not that I don't try to give it ample time but sometimes I think it should be hot enough but the car itself disagrees. LOL

I saw an Esprit on the track at Road Atlanta three weeks ago, looked good for a car of that age; good design.

Well...I am planning to be in LA/SF the week of Jan 26 for business...but one can always make a little time for a quick visit (even just to the lambo section - haha).
So let me know what you need me to do, to make this happen (schedules and timing of course always dynamic)

I'll be his personal camera boy for the day, carry the lenses, memory cards, etc. if you get him in. :grinning-smiley-003

Hmm... I could schedule a "Day at Leno's." I have full access to the garage.

There are strict camera rules though. Normally they don't allow pic taking inside.
