I was thinking about it today and it strikes me as odd that the big name tuners all seem to only produce products for one marque; why is that? Hamann, Dinan, Kleemann, Techart, Lingenfelter, etc. You'd think that these companies would adapt their products to other cars since the bulk of R&D is probably on the technology aspects of the part. Obviously an ECU tuning program would be quite unique but headers and superchargers for example.
Hamann was a bad example, they do stuff for ferrari, lambo, mercedes, range rover etc. :lol2:

I think it's to keep things simple and development costs down. I mean, how much does RUF really have to change for each new 911?:lol2:

LOL :owned:
Ok, scratch them from the list. I was thinking about their Gallardo stuff and didn't realize they did all the other cars.
Lingenfelter will also do almost anything GM(vettes, caddys, hummers, escalades, GTOs) it's just the vette is all you heare about.
They have a 700hp 427 TT package for the Escalade/Hummer/Denali. :lol2:

Damn, an Escalade with more horsepower than my g-wagen, that would be embarrassing.

The rest of the list was good, I'm not going to count the Lingenfelter thing since they're just tuning the same engine in a different body. :lol2:

They do vipers too :P

Damn, I thought I was on to something that time, my list sucks. :lol2:
You could add Gemballa, RUF, Brabus, Lorinser, and it wouldn't look too bad :P
edit: I was looking at Hennessy but I guess they do other stuff too...

Well, you can just say that Lingenfelter focuses on GM... because, all those listed have that in common. As for the single brand... I would assume it's because it makes it easier to tune a car to meet a specific need rather than just make a bunch of interchangable parts like say Greddy or HKS (Remus for you Euro punks :lol2: ). If you focus on one brand, you can make the complete car and charge a crazy priced. Not to mention that if you make parts for one specific brand, you can fine tune those vehicles to levels that the parts makers can't achieve.
Or at least, that's my take on it.

I thought that Lingenfelter quite doing other makes after John passed away. Fastest car I have ever driven was my father's Lingenfelter ZR-1 (if you guys remember those). 16 years old. Of course when he found out....

Also, Hennessey started out soley with Dodges, right? Adding lines definetly gives the feel of a diluated product, where as you just feel more comfortable if you know your tuner focuses only on your product.
