Obviously cable is lacking on coverage of anything but turn left for 500 mile style racing, do satellite providers have better coverage of F1 racing? Maybe even in high def?

I have XM and they are worst than TV as far as anything "European". XM sponsors one of the Acura LMP2 teams as well as the GM Cadillac WC/Corvette GT1 teams so you would think there would be some connect there but none that I know of. I did think there was some Champ Car stuff at one point but I can't remember for sure.

Actually to be honest, outside of NASCAR, F1 gets good TV coverage. No other racing series televises practice, qualifying, race specials and then the race. So in reality it is not lacking by US standards.

Speed has the exclusive rights to F1 broadcasts in the US. This weekend is round 2 in Sepang, Maylasia.
