Does anyone know about the Red 1998 Diablo SV at Lamborghini Chicago ( WWW.LAMBORGHINICHICAGO.COM) ? I do not own a red Lamborghini and I think I will pull the trigger tomorrow.

you have to leave the stock sv wheels on it though . a must . those rims only came with the sv . my .02 . i had an sv and would never have thought of changing my rims . the rims come with it it said but with a lil surface rust , just have to get them refinished . the black sv rims would look hot with that car in that color esp.

I really do not like black rims. Its like wearing a suit pants with gym shoes or blue jeans with black dress shoes. I do not like white walls either nor do I like ghetto rims either.

Roy Cats told me that Lamborghini did not make red diablos SVs until 1999 and opened my big mouth to Jim and Bill Nuccio, the owners of Lamborghini Chicago and made a total Jack Ass out of myself. Lamborghini made 10 Red Diablo SVs that year.

I really do not want to hurt your feeling, Dave, but I rather have black rims on my cars than the rims that you are marketing or selling. Why did you jack up your spider like that? I do not think you are able to sell the car looking the way it does. I have an extra set of regular Gallardo stock rims that I will give you if you can take those off. I have second thoughts, now, to listening to your advise. No offense, but just being honest with you. Don`t you get criticisms driving around with those things. They are not looking at your car and admiring how cool it is. The honest truth is that they are staring at you Spider and thinking what a Moron you are. I am just trying to help you, not make fun of you. If your friends are telling you that it looks cool, they are laughing their asses off. I do not like seeing people hurt, but they are having a blast with you if they are complimenting you. I have been in your situation myself many times. I installed corvette rims on my pickup and thought it look cool and people were complimenting me like crazy. I thought it looked nice but turned out I was the laughing stock of my town. Even cops were getting a laugh which I did not find out until a year later.

The owner didn't use the handbrake so the car rolled down the hill and hit a curb which caused the front bumper to shatter. It also needed to have the reverse lock fixed and cars suspension has been altered to fit the wheels.

I can live with accident and paint history....all cars have them and repairs are done good...

BUT once you come to modifications to the suspension....I kind of draw the line there..

Dave,

I really do not like to ask people for favors, then what happens is that I owe them one. I do not like to owe people anything. I try to live within my means and do not like to ask for help. You are extremely generous and feel very honored and grateful for your generosity to help me, but I will try to manage on my own. Thank you again, Dave. You are a good man. Let me know if you need any favors from me. Do you want me to send you some soveniers or anything from Chicago?:banghead:

I am hardly ever there so you do not have to worry about your property value going down nor the neighborhood going down to shit. I am by racetrack road and country way in the Westwood Lakes subdivision. Very modest home. My parents commute back and forth to Chicago and Tampa and they utilize it alot. Whereabouts are you at from me. Maybe we can get hooked up when I am down there. Look me up when you are in the Chciagoland area. You and your family will be my guests anytime.

Dave,

Its at Lamborghini Chicago. The deal is done but need to work out the paperwork so I get the tax credit. Need to get the title back for the F40 I sold to my buddy back to Lambo Chicago and I need to use that as a trade for the Diablo SV in order to utilize the tax credit. Do you understand?

I know this car. It was a local car here in KC. The owner wasn't a football player. He traded it in for a Benz.....Long story but I almost "bought" it. PM if interested in its history.

So when's it being delivered Gus?

My buddy who bought my F40 is in Oregon and he will be back to Southern California tomorrow. He will then send the title to Lambo Chicago where they will do the trade for me to utilize a sales tax credit. I already paid $40K in sales taxes on the F40 and the only way I can recoup that is by doing a trade. I should get it no later than mid next week.

Knowing what we know on the history on this particuler 98 SV what is a fair offer on this Diablo? They are asking 149K. It appears that they have done a fair amount of maintainance to bring it up to date and the Bumper was replaced with an authentic replacement.

Thanks

I see this car is still for sale. Why no buyers? I believe someone said it had been in an accident that caused bumper damage and the tires are not the right size, but no other reason. I notice the price has gone from 147,000 down to 89,000. Too good to be true? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

I am the new owner of this 1998 Diable SV. Magnificient car. Had a small oil cooler line leak about a week after got it. Took up to Lamborghini Carolinas and they said it had no problems except little driven for 2 years, changed fluids and plugs, etc., adjusted throttle and put on new gearshift knob. They found original rims but I really don't like them. Bought them, but will just hold them for resale later. I love the chrome ones. Just wanted to thank everyone who put the car down. I got it for a song. Like new inside; no cracks, no wear, just wanting to be driven. Lamborghini Chicago on the other hand just wanted to be rid of it. I finally, after ignoring all the fear mongering on both lamborghini websites, and reviewing Carfax, talking to Joe Suba at Lamborghini Chicago and Steve Jones at Lamborghini Carolinas, decided to buy the car. When I went to Lamborghini Chicago website it was gone! They were so desperate to be rid of it that they had just consigned it! They pulled it back and it was mine. So thanks for all the rumors, innuendo and gossip. I have waited a lifetime to own what I consider to be the REAL Lamborghini. Long live the Diablo! As Paul Harvey would say, "and that's the rest of the story."

Any idea what the actual 'history' of the car is? Was it just the parking brake issue and a cracked bumper?

wildthing
11-23-2009, 11:59 PM
Piecing together what John Hooper, technician at Lamborghini Carolinas saw on the lift, yes the bumper was replaced due to the failure to secure the parking brake, at one time the reverse lockout was not working, but Lamborghini Chicago was forced to fix to try and sell, and the rims are not original. Suspension feels tight and true at 150. And I believe that is all. Rest was just not being driven problems. This is one mother of a car. Personalized plate is next: VI VI VI.
