Anyone go to the race? I'd love to see the Audis in person.

Sounds like Tomas Enge had a nasty crash. Not sure which turn yet. I see they are all praising how smooth the road course is (which is pretty funny because all the CART drivers criticized how bumpy it was last year, and I don't think they repaved it.)

Do they really weld the manhole covers shut? I heard the cars will suck them up if that isn't done.

Yes, I saw them do it.

The Audis just fly around the track. After the indy cars I was impressed how fast the ALMS car moved. Vette, Ferrari, and Panos(sp?) sounded incredible revving up in the pits before they all pulled off.

diesel-powered Audi's sound so quite (like electric cars when they going flying by) Very Cool!

The R10 and the CH60 are the only two cars I have not seen in person so I am looking forward to Mid Ohio this year. If anyone has not been to a race in person, I highly recommend it especially if it is at a track and not street circuit. In the last few years I was fortunate enough to see the MC12, RGT, DBR9, C5/6R, and various LMP cars and it is well worth coin and the time.

Ah, the yacht basin side. Much prettier there. You see more action being on the front straight with the pits, but much, much prettier looking towards the water with Penske's yacht, etc.
