Mr Vroom, Wayne (g-force) said on fchat that he heard Heffner was building two new twin turbo Gallardo's. They identified the west coast person having it done but not the east; any chance it is you? I know you had mentioned it.

Yep, I just had this feeling that it was Vroom getting the TT after talking about it at the cars & coffee last month; I met him at the kart track today and his G is under the knife getting it done right now, should be back in May.

But it gets better; he said I could drive it when it's done. :headbang:

3. Where the hell is Vroom? is he still in thailand or w/e?

Him and his friend are most likely gonna get some shifter karts, there's a guy at the track whose business is taking car of your karts; they store them for $100/month and then will do all the prep and repairs for $50/hour but as long as you don't wreck it, should just cost you $50 and normal consumables to use it on the weekends. I'm going to try to go down there to see how it works out for him, and Greg who has a new kart on the way, before I get into it; I'm sure I'd like it but I just don't see myself having the time to do it enough to make it worth buying one.

I hope to see him back on the board at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, but there's a reason he's not posting for the time being; give me a call and I'll fill you in. He'll still be coming out to exotic car things we come up with locally, etc.

I think I'm more of a pedal manipulator right now, working on becoming a driver. :) Here's some video of my Radical from Barber a few weeks ago:

I should have some vid from yesterday at Sebring up by tomorrow.

That's the first real track day I did in it, just drove it on the test drive for a few hours before that; taking baby steps. :)

I agree, Dave. Just watched the video in detail. Conservative, but, hey it was your first day on the track. Nice steady driving, though. Nothing you can really criticize about it.

I can only imagine how much progress you have made.

Who is driving in this video at Barber?

I would have very different things to say about their driving, especially if I was on the track at the time.

Nope, not sure who that is. When racing though you'll often drive a poor line in the interest of protecting the corner.

I was talking to Greg yesterday and realized my Stack unit is not showing me the gear indicator where it should be, which is a decent portion of my issue with some of those corners where I bog it down; I don't know which gear I'm in since the Radical dash just shows sixth all the time, presumably because the gear lead was removed and connected to the Stack, which I thought just didn't have gear indication. I got the manual out last night and realized where I need to go to get it set up right for the gauges I want showing when in race display mode.

Awesome you guys are getting into racing...I'm on that mission to and can't wait to get more track time. I took my murci to the track but I'd rather a reasonably fast alternative because I'd be rightly pissed if I slammed the bull into the wall...

Jrfootin had his Murci out at Homestead recently, even in the rain and spun it. :grinning-smiley-003

Zzzzdoc is bringing his Murci down to Sebring with the rest of us in early June. But yeah, I know what you mean, I took the Spyder to Sebring back in December and it was such a rush driving it on the track, it was a strong mix of feelings though, go faster and experience the super adrenaline rush, or protect the Lamborghini. :) After riding in Shuey2k's Radical I knew what I needed to do:

I know. But there's a difference between trying to protect your position, and just driving stupid. He almost touches wheels twice by not having established his position in the corner, but taking it anyway. That crap just causes accidents. He's the kind of driver I would give a REAL wide berth too. Not worth driving close to him. Good drivers you can trust.

Yeah, I've always wondered how much of that is bad driving and how much is bluff; you have to admit if you make everyone else think you drive like that, they might stay back giving you an advantage. Are there rules in sanctioned racing that will get you booted if you drive stupid?

zzzzdoc

You could always get black flagged, or a meatball flag. More than likely, other drivers would give you a bad rep, which could be the kiss of death.

All kinds of racing have give and take. All take, and no give, ultimately isn't the most successful strategy.

I'm sure the experienced racers on the forum would agree.

Wayne mentioned Vroom's TT should be done in the next week or two; that warrants a special drive to Sarasota. :)
