When talking about pickups, they are generally classified as "1/2 ton", "1 ton", etc. Can someone tell me what that is actually a measure of? Obviously the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 being 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and 1 ton models have increasing payload and tow capacities as you move up, but I don't see anything in their specs that lines up with that particular measurement, the towing and payload capacity certainly increase by more than 500 pounds when moving up models.
