Anyone get one of the new Amex business plum cards? I'm trying to figure out what the catch is but can't find one. It's basically a revolving credit card for businesses and you get 2% back if you pay it in full and on time each month. I spend between $20k and $30k/month on Amex for business so this means $4800 to $7200 back for not doing anything compared to the Amex rewards points we make now which I figure nets about 0.1% cash back based on the value of items and the number of points they take for purchasing the items.

Sounds interesting - is there a credit limit or is lt like normal amex based upon your history? I'd be interested in it too, we spend a crapload on amex each month.

Says no limit, so I'm assuming it's based on past history. Oh, I should clarify on the specs: you only get the 2% if you charge at least $5k/month AND pay within 10 days of the end of the statement period, but we always do that anyway so 2%. Annual fee of $185 waived for first year, no extra fee for the first additional card.

I gotta get one. There's gotta be a catch, but I can't find one either. I'm calling them tomorrow to get more info and see if I can get one, 2% cash back for doing something I already do is dope:headbang:

Why not get the centurion business card ?
Because this card will pay me $5k to $8k/year for using it while the Centurion card will cost me $2500/year just for having it. The exception of course would be if you're someone who actually utilizes the Centurion for its perks, which probably 90% of Centurion users don't. :)

I called, there doesn't appear to be any bad fine print, but they can't change my platinum card to the plum card, I'd have to apply for it as a second account, and lose my member since 2001 lol crap!

Shawn, I have 2 amex cards, they both say member since 2000 (even though the second one was issued in 2007!)
and lose my member since 2001No way. An amex member is an amex member regardless of card. They even retained my date when I changed countries 25 years ago.

Yeah that's always funny. I wonder how they make money if they give 2% cash back? What do they charge merchants for taking it?..like 3%?

I think the centurion is the only one that comes in truly cool packaging, not that I've seen it; my platinum just came in some dumb book with useless stuff I won't use. Centurion is made out of titanium. :grinning-smiley-003

That's not fair; parents' cards count for your membership?

Do you run into places that don't accept AMEX? Can the data directly be imported into QuickBooks?
I had one since '78, but got rid of it in the '80s when there just weren't enough merchants who accepted it. And I really don't want two business credit card accounts.

I've found smaller businesses may not accept them, but most everywhere I need to use the card they do. I use Quicken, and am able to download transactions in there with my other accounts no problem.

matt; correct, you have to be an AU on the same account and have a card in your name.

It came today!! It just came in a measly envelope, not even a book or nothing:lol2: Guess they need to pay that 2% somehow:fu:
It did say member since 2008 though :( , yet I check my online account it says
Welcome SHAWN, member since 2001.
what gives!? Oh well, not a big deal. I'm happy. :)
