Anyone here have an american express? I'm looking at getting one, because i need to work on getting my credit up and such. I like some of their benefits and rewards, but can a charge card be used to build credit?

AMEX offers charge cards and credit cards. I like the idea of their charge cards but would only get one if it will help me build credit. otherwise i'll stick with their plain old credit card.

Having a high "high-credit" number on an amex charge card can help your credit since the charge cards have to be paid off in full each month, I don't think their revolving credit cards will help build your credit any faster than any other credit (non-checking) card. I got an Amex platinum for the travel stuff but have since found it to be relatively useless; every time I try to use it I find the same flights cheaper on Expedia, I tried to use it twice to get into booked restaurants in Vegas and they were of no help (that's one of the advertised perks), etc. I guess it's really just for people who don't have time to spend three minutes on expedia and would rather spend three minutes on the phone telling someone when they'd like to fly and just paying whatever Amex dishes up for you.

I have to say I wasnt a fan of Amex conceirge until I took the trip to Florida to see the Murci. They got me an awesome deal on a room for the 2 nights I was there. More than half off for the room when I looked at the pricing on the website to the place.

Hmm, maybe I should keep trying them then and it's just a matter of where you're going... I got kind of angry after the last few attempts since I'm paying them $500/year for the service and haven't been trying anymore.
