View Full Version : Got a smoking hot new piece today $250,000

Just got it today. It is a 5071G 42mm which is basically a 5070G with diamonds everywhere from the factory. They only made 10 of them and none were sold in the US. This is not for sale but just sharing some pics I just took. :)

5102 is ugly as all hell. Had one two years ago and hated it.

The dial sucks and the polished portion of the white gold case gets beat on. Just a very plain watch with a grand complication. Definitely a work of art but sucks as a wearable piece.

Damn, I was quite looking forward to wearing it.

EDIT: Am I daft, or does that 5071G and the 5102 share a case (and dial?) except for the inserts cut for the diamonds? Will you wear the 5071G?

I don't think I could wear a $250k watch, I'd be worried about getting robbed even if I wasn't going somewhere I'd expect to get robbed. Can you get insurance on things like that?

Yes you can get insurance on anything but let me ask you this. You drive a $250K car and everyone who sees it knows what it cost. Aren't you worries about getting car jacked?

Not as much since it takes a much more sophisticated criminal to steal a bright orange Lamborghini since it would be rare for me to have it parked where people won't be staring at it, and then they have to figure out where to take it or have a semi waiting, etc. Someone could conk me on the head for my watch in a restroom or something and walk out with the watch in their pocket.

Of course, the disposable income necessary to have a $250k watch would probably mean I'd have so much money, losing the watch would not be the same as if I lost a $250k watch currently. :)

Most types who would steal it aren't likely sophisticated enough to know it's value. To most people, it's just a 'nice watch'.

I would be MUCH more afraid of accidentally squishing it than I would be of anyone trying to rob me.

Then again I'm also licenced to carry a firearm in 28 states...

a lot of $250k watches, most people won't really know its a $250k watch, but this particular one is not only a patek philippe but also encrusted in diamonds. now most people would probably assume they're fake, but when they see you getting out of a lambo... not so much. I would love to be able to afford to wear expensive watches, but that particular one, i'd be looking over my shoulder all the time. more power to you. its beautiful!
