Wheel manufacturers cant get the tires for the rear fitment on the Murci due to national backorder. Will running a smaller width wheel with a smaller tire be a bad idea?

Are you talking temporarily or permanently? I would not do that permanently if for no other reason then most of the power is distributed to the rear under normal circumstances so you'll probably be much more likely to spin and of course lateral grip will be reduced as well.

Which is on backorder, the wheels or the tires? Can you just go with a different tire?

Pirelli is the only one who makes the tire. The tire has been on backorder for 6 months now and projected to be another 3 months b4 avail.

best be is to call around to local shops and hope they have some already in stock. You may pay a premium though.

Changing the size of the tire is not a good idea, unless you know exactly what you are doing. With the Lamborghini's they are exactly engineered for specific width and height sized tires. There is a good chance that running a smaller tire width or height will tweak the suspension slightly. If you get a flat tire, and need to throw on a temp tire for less than 50 miles, than that's one thing, don't go over 50 mph, but ANYthing outside of that exact sentence, your gonna need to wait the three months.

Sorry for my answer, cause i know that it's not what you want to hear.

Definitiely call around. Just because there is a national backorder, doesn't mean that there are none available. A board member might have a spare set or something.
