Just curious . I sold my 97 sv w/ 30k miles for $117 k last year . At the time i just wanted to get rid of the car , was afraid that with more miles it was just gonna get to hard to sell the car ( was putting on about 1k miles a month , put on about 25k in 2 years ) and i was putting money into it left and right in repairs . Now i feel i could have gotten more . The car was clean , good shape with some mods . exhaust & pipes , radio , tripple m . And it was a complete alcantara interior . It is actually still for sale on zr autos site in canada for almost $200k cad . Think i could have gotten more ? I value the opinions on here ...

From my perspective, Diablos value have steadily on the climb since last year. Today, you would be hard pressed to find a nice 91 Diablo for lower than $105k.
I am not distinct on all the repair issues you stated, all the mods you had and it impacts on the overall condition of the vehicle but if the car was as nice as you stated, I do think it was a bargain even in US dollars.

If it is a 97 and went to ZR Auto in Canada....then it must have been a Canadian car to begin with...so that would also effect the price in the USA market...if in fact it was a Canada car..I think you did well...a USA a car, bit better...but you have to wait for the right buyer, thats the problem.
I to think the cars are NOT going down, holding and steady normal price of inflation rise right now...
I also think AFTER 2009 when these super cars are VASTLY limited to the USA the older TRUE V-12 cars will do nothing BUT rise.

Do tell Roy, what's happening with the '09 model year that will vastly limit "to the USA"...?
Also, I think they guy sold too low, I bet even one of the dealers would have picked up the car if it was clean for $140K (MCI, Nelson).

Isn't that when all the Euro green laws kick in?

i agree on the price.....not sure on MCI though. they tend to go for little to no mileage.

Yes GREEN LAWS kick in...BUT this is my take on it...I could be way off base, but we will have to see what happens...I think I am pretty right on...here we go
Big money Super cars like the V-12 Murcie and such command a LOT more profit in other counties then they do here. The last few years and even worse in the years to come is the cost to do business with these cars here. Laws, insurance, crash tests, transport, support....everything, NOT to mention trying to get a totally different car to meet the new green laws for the USA. This means two production lines and or at the least stop and go on the production line for manufacturing...
BUT now that they are opening other markets, China, Russia, South America..where their world cars will sell well and MAKE more money then selling the same car to the USA customer. SO why not screw USA and deal with the more profitable rest of the world.
THEN you have to take into consideration on TOP of that the declining US Dollar against the rest of the world...each day our buying power is less and less. I remember when it was a TREAT to cross into Canada for a weekend, it was like visiting Mexico. Not any more, they come to us now...their dollar is par and stronger back and forth than ours.
So lets just have one line of car, one production line for the USA...a V-8 HO Gallardo type car that will cost less to produce and can be managed to meet the laws and still sell with some profit here...
All you have to do is go back to 2000, when 80 Diablo GT cars for everywhere BUT the USA were one of their MOST profitable years for production, based on money in and money back for development and sales.
It is just common sense, the USA is getting to hard to do business in for foriegn market providers, cost, lawsuits, laws....time to move onto the new world coming up....
Of course this is just IMO. But I truly believe this is the way its going and that 10 years from now, these V-12 grandfather claused in cars will be worth some big money!!

Gotcha, interesting take.
There are no 'green laws' for the USA taking effect in the 2009 model year, none I have run across...and I do watch from time to time. Can you point to them?
I think your best "argument" is the declining dollar, the US Congress keeps making more "funny money" and the true value of the dollar keeps shrinking.
Prices will have to rise for the US unless we gain traction on the currency exchange rate.
The US$ keeps slipping away from equality with the Euro. And forget about the UKpound, it's been a very big decline in just the past 4 years (not the UK pound has anything to do with the Euro which is what Audi deals in).

Yeah, the value of the dollar is really affecting the price of some things that I buy that are made overseas, even simple things like obscure import beers and cigars have been going up and up. Must be great to come to the US on vacation for foreigners though, live like a king. :lol2:

Yep, too much, that's $187K USD, a bit too much for a '97 SV (no anti-lock brake, no air bag). Great car, but more like $150-$165K USD range would move it.

2 clutches , few sets of pads , fr & rear rotors , tires X 2 sets , numerous a/c problems , numerous electrical problems in general , slave cylinder , etc... i got rid of the car over a year ago i would have to pull my numerous work orders on the car to cite the exacts . It seemed like everything went on me . The car was a canadian car so inspecting the car was a nightmare as it had no obd2 port . I had to get a letter from Lamborghini to submit to nys dmv , which had to be approved to get the car dyno inspected . That whole ordeal took about 8 mos. I was driving the car uninspected for 3/4 of the year . Plus i also did a few cosme. things to the car . Added the black c/f sv rear wing , 3m , painted the nose about 4x before i smartened up and did the 3m . All in all being my 1st Lambo i loved it but if i didnt have the passion for the car i did i would have called it a nightmare . Every other day the car seemed to need something .....

for the amount of miles you put on the car,it cost you alot of cash .when you had the clucth replaced did you go with factory or aftermarket parts?

both clutches i put in were burtoni clutches . Auto sport in Huntington put the first one in for about $15k ( what a deal huh ? ) The second i paid about $5k for the clutch and about $4k for the labor if i remeber correctly . That first clutch was 1 week after i bought the car and was told it had a new clutch in it already but i was quickly reminded by the dealer that i bought the car " as is " . The bill when the SV went in that first week came out to $30k , 1/2 of that was for the clutch . Thats why i hate Auto Sport so much , took advantage of a new owner and momber to the Lambo community . But i also should have done more homework and not just trusted the mech. who was a referral as well ..
