I know Corvettes aren't really well liked on these sites, but i have a problem. I have just purchased a 1978 25th ann. Stingray Corvette and the headlights will go up, but when they do the lights don't come on, does anyone know what might be the problem? I really don't want to join a corvette forum because im not going to hold on to the car for much longer, but if anyone has any advise it would be greatful. Thanks!

I like the Z06; well performance-wise, interior sucks.

Thats what i thought too, so i went and got new lights and they still don't work. I also went through the wiring and didn't find anything.

Fuse? Relay? Ground?

Just to throw this out there... in my Radical I had a brake light go out so I bought some new ones that 'seemed' to be the same. In reality, they had the prongs poking out the side of the base correctly but were about 3 mm shorter on the bottom side where the bulb should be touching, so they didn't work.

Maybe someone put the wrong bulbs in and they don't quite fit? Have you tried a voltmeter to see if you have power in the socket?

No, that was plan for today, hopefully it will be an easy fix.

I'm betting on fuse, relay, or ground issue.
But GM also liked to use a hidden bonus called a "fuseable link" I got that suprise once on an old GM drag car I used to have. Yeah, some kind of inline fuse in the wiring. What the heck is that crap? Voltmeter or 12V test light should track your problems quickly.

Ended up having to get a new wiring harness for the car. Person who had the car before me chewed the wires up real bad.

Don't you love it when previous owners neglect to tell you the "small" issues?
