Lambo Run - August 26

I think I'm ready to step it up a notch from my Lotus drives to a Lambo one. I'm thinking the last Sunday of August since there will be lots of events around Pebble Beach in the middle of the month. I know I'm planning way ahead, but it would be nice to get a good group together. I'm open to suggestions. I've done runs in the peninsula, meeting at Alice's, east bay meeting at the old Car Wash restaurant in Danville, and Napa meeting at Silverado resort. I'm open to all of these as well as something new. Would definitely be cool to have a meal at the start of the drive. I don't want to meet before 10 am. I prefer 11 am or later. :) I had brunch at the Ritz this past Sunday and that was a great experience, although it may be a little too fancy for some of you car guys. :p Anyway, let me know who's interested and can make it.

BTW - I live in San Francisco proper, so I wouldn't mind meeting for food locally and driving elsewhere.

Take Lucas Valley road off the 101, when you reach the coast head north for a bit. There are some nice roads, places to eat etc.

A good starting point might be Redwood City or a city near there since its located between the city and South/East Bay. Alice's is pretty far out of the way for a meeting place.

Do you know any where out there that's decent to meet? Isn't Stacks there? Is there anything more original than that in the surrounding area? Sorry... not a big fan of chains unless that's the only choice.

I have routes and maps for a good Marin or Napa back roads drive but we would need to leave much earlier for either since traffic would be an issue by the time we drove up there. Otherwise we could try a mid/late afternoon drive in either area if there is less risk of traffic.

It's nearly impossible to find a good margarita here in Tampa; only place I've had one I'd consider good is a bar i go to often enough that I've got the bartender doing it the way I want or in Orlando at Jimmy Buffett's of all places, just have to ask for Patron instead of the Jimmy Buffett tequila since their gold is really just silver with coloring.

If everyone brings a co-pilot, you would probably need a reservation for about 20 peeps. In addition, I met quite a few Lambo owners at the Concorso who are interested in coming. Can they accomodate 20?

I deleted a couple of my last posts to prevent any confusion. We are meeting at 9 am in the marina green in San Francisco. Entrance is Marina Blvd around Scott St. It's a huge parking lot. We'll be driving in the north bay, but not to Napa. Prancing Horse has a new route he wants to try. We will be having lunch at 12:30 pm in the San Rafael area. I will post on here, once details are finalized. Matador is also familiar with the plan. Paisley is looking for a car to passenger in. She's a great gal. :)

He can't make it - he's in too much pain - his car is a TVR Cerbera with the 4.5 L V8 (450 bhp, 2500 lbs) - I guess probably the only one of its kind in the US :headbang:

If he doesn't break anything next time (he did it falling off a bicycle!), I will get him for subsequent runs - he is fairly active in the Golden Gate Lotus Club.

Thanks! Since there were no cars in front of me, I just pointed the camera back there and one of them came out. Actually the view in front of me over that stretch along the Pacific was simply incredible. Hopefully someone else has a pic and can share.

Rotus, I tried to record the 1st tunnel drive on the way back, but couldn't capture it on my digital camera. It seemed the software somehow froze and the file was never saved. I did record the 2nd tunnel, but it was not as interesting because several nonexotics (some people call them 'civilian' cars) got in the way of our lineup. I can send you that video if you want it. Next time, I'll have to record the drives with a real camcorder and sit in a roadster for better angles.
