I promised Kevin & Roy I would document my experiences with them online whether it was good or bad. So here goes...
About two months ago I emailed Roy asking a few things about Gallardos. I was looking at the inventory at Lamborghini Chicago at the same time. To be completely honest, when I first emailed Roy I knew if he had one I would schedule a flight up there, test drive it and inspect it before even talking numbers.
Anyway, at that time Roy did not have any orange Gallardos, but Lambo Chicago did. After figuring everything out, my wife and I agreed the one at Lambo Chicago would have been over $200k and we changed our minds and wanted to find something less expensive.
So I asked around on some of the forums and a lot of people said go to Roy at Cats Exotics. So I emailed him again and said here is what I'm looking for, and actually I found one (it was a 2004) online in some boondocks state. Roy said, here's Kevin, the general manager, he'll find it for you. Kevin called me a few minutes later and said stay away from the 2004 you found. He didn't know that dealer, didn't know if it had a new clutch and in general recommended me to stay away from 2004's unless I knew the seller and the history of the car.
So I told him what features I'm looking for and what I want to spend. He said lemme make some calls and I'll get back to you. I'm used to hearing things like that (where you don't hear from them again in weeks) so I started making calls myself to random ebay listings. One place I called over 1000 miles way literally said, yes we have that car, but I can't discuss it over the phone, come on in and we'll talk. OMG, LOSERS. So I was dialing the next places and my other line beeped in and it was Kevin telling me he found one (about an hour after I hung up with him). It was a 2005 with a brand new clutch, 4500 miles, orange, egear, front lift, clear bonnet, sport interior and basically everything I wanted at the price I wanted.
Mind you, I've never bought anything big sight unseen, not even a TV. And I'm not a trillionaire like many lambo owners might be. We discussed it some more and I said ok, well I'll come look at it and Roy and Kevin both said, there really is no need, if you don't like it when it comes to your door, we'll give you 100% of your money back. I was skeptical, but my wife was 1000 times more skeptical. I told her I had a good feeling about them and not to worry about it. I think she just went along with it so she could say I told you so if it didn't work out and hang it over my head forever:lol2:
Kevin and I ended up exchanging emails several times a day for about a week. He tried to keep me up to date with the paperwork progress and the shipping. He spent a lot of time with me and answered emails in most cases within a few minutes!
The car was located in Arkansas and apparently big name transporters don't go through there very much on their normal routes (go figure:fu:), so about a week after I first talked to them I emailed Roy and Kevin asking if they know when it will be shipped cause no one really knew. Roy said because you're concerned and had to wait I'm gonna pay 100% of your shipping and I'll get you the car within 2 days. I was pretty shocked, yet skeptical at the same time. Literally less than an hour later he called and said I found a transport, I'm paying for it, it'll be there tomorrow!! Needless to say I didn't sleep that night:headbang:
When the car did arrive, we inspected it to see if it was "flawless" like Roy & Kevin said. It was even better than they described. There was not one mark, scratch, not even dust on the car..it was immaculate!! I love the car and drive it everyday!
I know this review probably means nothing to the guys that have bought and owned dozens of exotics before, but to the guys out there that are making the jump for the first time I wanted to put this online for you, cause I was in your shoes. Cats exotics was great to work with. From the moment I contacted them with what I wanted to the moment I had the car shipped 600 miles away and in my driveway was 9 days and it was exactly as described. Thanks Kevin & Roy!!! :grinning-smiley-003
